- Title
THE LATIN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.
- Authors
Fukuyania, Francis
- Abstract
The article discusses the ways in which Latin America suffers from social inequality. Originating as colonial states, large parts of populations within many Latin American countries were excluded from political participation. They also suffer from little redistribution of wealth and unequal access to public services, including education and health. This inequality indicates large-scale negative consequences for economic growth and political stability. Education reform is evaluated as a method of leveling incomes and different initiatives for combating pervasive poverty are discussed.
