- Abstract
This article discusses research done on the potential effect of coffee and caffeine on the development of Parkinson disease (PD). It refers to a study by G. W. Gross and colleagues in a 2000 issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association." The study involved Japanese American men aged between 45 and 68 who were enrolled in the Honolulu Heart Program between 1965 and 1968. Clinical outcomes of PD that might be considered valuable for primary care physicians include functional status or quality of life.
