- Abstract
Objective: to report the experience on the implementation of the simulation technique in the selection process of nursing professionals. Method: this is an experience report in which we describe the phases of development and implementation of the use of the simulation technique in the selection process of nursing professionals, held from 2010 to 2011. The simulation technique consists of the application of scenes with a participatory and interactive environment, using clinical settings which replicate the experience of real life and, for this, mannequins representing the patients are used. Besides, the technique involves a process called "Debriefing" or "Feedback", that is, the discussion on what happened in the scene. Participants report what happened, what they did, and how they worked to solve the scene. Results: the simulation technique allows the assessor to observe the applicant interacting in clinical scenes which replicate real-life experience, providing a more realistic view on her/his future behavior. Conclusion: to carry out an effective selection is a must and a way to offer more safety for patients before, during, and after nursing care.
