The article discusses the effects of iron (Fe) availability on photosynthetic physiology and community composition of surface phytoplankton in the western subarctic Pacific (WSP) region. Also cited are the concentrations of chlorophyll, nitrates, and silicates in the offshore waters, and the use of scanning electron microscopy in the study.
