- Abstract
This article reports the results of field observations and glasshouse experiments on the extent and cause of varietal differences in the incidence of bean leaf roll virus in field beans. It was noted that bean leaf roll virus was consistently more common in field plots of some varieties of spring-sown field beans than others. The difference between varieties was correlated with their susceptibility to infection by the virus, and not to their suitability for colonization by aphids or to their rate of maturation.
