- Abstract
Schlesinger, E. R., (Univ. of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213), S. M. Mazumdar and V. M. Logrillo. Long-term trends in perinatal deaths among offspring of mothers with previous child losses. 96: 235–262, 1972.—The study investigated the changes occurring over a 30-year period in perinatal mortality rates in Upstate New York among the offspring of multiparous women in the presence or absence of previous child losses. The perinatal mortality rate declined more slowly in the presence of previous losses, so that the relative expectation of perinatal loss increased in this group. The chance of a perinatal death in 1936 was 2.2 times greater in the group with a previous child loss. The relative expectation of a perinatal death increased to 3.0 in 1965–1966.
