- Authors
AFZAL-KHAN, FAWZIA
- Abstract
This article explores the experiences of an anti-Zionist professor in US academia who has faced attempts at silencing and censorship. The professor shares their activism for Palestinian human rights and self-determination, highlighting the challenges faced by those who speak up for Palestine, including threats, intimidation, and potential job loss. They discuss instances of being denied recognition and awards, personal attacks, and being removed from a position due to controversial political statements. The article also delves into the author's research on the funding sources of Islamophobia, connecting it to Zionist and pro-Israeli sources and conservative think-tanks. They argue that these discourses of hatred and Islamophobia have influenced US foreign policy and could lead to a resurgence of McCarthyism. The author concludes by calling for disobedience and resistance against injustices.
