- Abstract
This article presents data from the surveillance of HIV/AIDS behavior amongst young individuals who were interviewed in Bamako, West Africa. The interviews noted that gender, sexual experience and education were significantly associated with the social attitude and perception of control regarding sexual behavior. The research conducted monitored trends in HIV risk behaviors, sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and transmission, attitudes towards male condoms, and unwanted pregnancies. Also discussed are mediating variables including perceived social norms, perceived behavioral control, and communication with peers and parents.
