- Abstract
This article discusses the challenges of studying biological structures in their natural environment due to the sensitivity of biological materials to radiation. The authors explore the use of 4D STEM technologies to overcome these challenges and find elusive biological structures. By using a scanning technique that decouples the field of view from the resolution, the authors are able to achieve high-resolution scans on cryo EM lamella specimens. This approach is beneficial for studying thick bacterial cells and targeting key structures such as viruses.
