- Abstract
This study was conducted in four different environments representing the Thrace region during the 2020-2021 season to evaluate genotype x environment interaction (GEI) using the principal component (PC), genotype x environment biplot (GGE biplot) and AMMI analyses for a total of 27 varieties and candidate varieties for grain yield and some important quality traits. The experiments were carried out in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Agricultural and quality traits including heading date, plant height, grain yield, thousand grain weight, volume weight, grain hardness, protein ratio, Zeleny sedimentation, Alveograph energy value, wet gluten content, and gluten index were examined in this study. The highest variation in grain yield was determined in Tekirdağ, while the highest yield was in Edirne in average. GGE biplot analysis revealed that two different mega-environments were determined, and two main components explained a total of 89.97% of the GEI. The AMMI-based variance analysis also revealed statistically significant effects for genotype, environment, replication, and GEI. The most stable genotypes were determined as Ez11 and Rumeli, with the LG Arnova variety being one of the four genotypes prominent in all four environments. Correlation analysis resulted in statistically significant positive relationships (p<0.05) between quality traits, whereas no significant relationships were observed between grain yield and other agricultural and quality traits. The first four PCs had eigenvalues exceeding 1, explaining more than 74% of the total variation. LG Arnova, Artek, Axum, Alpan, and Vassa varieties/candidate varieties have particularly stood out for grain yield in all environments. To obtain more concrete data in this regard, further studies need to be conducted for a longer period in these environments.
