- Authors
Hughes, Virginia
- Abstract
The article reports on the blueprint of priorities for autism research. It is a strategic plan mandated by the Combating Autism Act in December 2006 which recommends 40 specific issues to explore diagnosis, causes and proper care. The estimated cost for the implementation of short-and-long term priorities is about $800 million. Tom Insel of the U.S. National Institute Mental Health and Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) said that the plan emphasizes underfunded areas of research.
