- Abstract
Furthermore, the authors of the letter state that the operational definitions and cut-off points for pharyngeal residue estimation differ in the DIGEST-FEES study of Starmer et al. based on supporting psychometric work by Pisegna et al. [[5]-[7]]. Therefore, we agree with Dr. Hutcheson and Dr. Starmer that there are many methodological differences between the studies that certainly influence the results [[1]]. Again, we thank Dr Hutcheson and Dr Starmer for their careful considerations and hope that our reply provides transparency for the methodological choices that were made in the study by Simon et al.
