- Abstract
Most birds have heteromorphic sex chromosomes, which allows for the determination of sex through molecular sexing based on the differences between the W and Z gene sequences (Ellegren, [2]). Other genes on the W-chromosome with homologous sequences on the Z-chromosome include I ATP5A1 i , I HINT i , I KCMF1 i , I NIPBL i , I SMADS i , I SPIN i and I UBAP2 i (Nam & Ellegren, [6]).
