- Title
Luminal osmolality in the duodenum is controlled by 5-HT-dependent regulation of mucosal permeability.

- Abstract
The article reports on the luminal osmolality in the duodenum. After the water intake, the adjustment of the very low luminal osmolality in the duodenum is considered a passive process. However, a recent study showed that osmolality was fine-tuned via active regulation of paracellular permeability. The research also studied the role of 5-HT in the regulation of paracellular permeability and fluid transport in the duodenum.
