- Abstract
The article considers the use of psychiatric disability evaluations or independent medical evaluations (IME) in addressing economic issues in the workplace. Specifically, IME are performed to determine eligibility for public sector benefits through the Social Security Administration. They are also used to ascertain whether a return to the original job is possible or further psychiatric treatment is needed prior to returning to work.
