- Abstract
This paper discusses some recent innovative implementation and improvements procedures of statistical process control (SPC) techniques at a washer manufacturing process. Specifically, this paper will provide a guidelines used for SPC implementation in terms quality improvements teams (which may consist of management and shop-floor personnel); which also highlight the importance of histograms, pareto analysis, cause & Effect analysis and gauge capability studies (Cp & Cpk); and introduce an innovative, useful application of spreadsheets for analysis of repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) studies. Also the problems encountered during manufacturing process find out and the problem resolution approaches will be discussed. Though paper concentrates on the SPC implementation at a washer manufacturing facility, its utility is such that the procedures are not company specific and can be applied in all levels of manufacturing. Finally, some of the gains achieve through SPC will be highlighted.
