- Abstract
We present a literature review on mathematics education during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our aim was to provide an overview of how research and teaching in this field were addressed during the onset of the pandemic. We selected 50 documents, which we analyzed considering both the professional and scientific domains. In our findings, we highlight the themes, objects, methodologies, and theories employed in research in Mathematics Education research during this initial stage of the pandemic. These findings reveal challenges and obstacles, as well as the need to broaden the focus to establish possible scientific pathways for emergency and crisis situations that in mathematics education research should navigate.
