- Title
Variability in BP: A need to vary the approach?
- Authors
Bostock-Cox, Beverley
- Abstract
The article focuses on the clinical implications of study findings published in "The Lancet" on the importance of variability in blood pressure readings. It notes that the study determined that variability in systolic blood pressure and maximum blood pressure should be recognized as a predictor of stroke. However, the British Hypertension Society (BHS) stresses that the mean blood pressure should continue to be used as the deciding factor when starting treatment for hypertension.
