- Title
Memory Bridges: Narrative Memories in Saved Objects.
- Authors
Aden, Roger C.
- Abstract
Saved objects both contain and express stories. This study explores how saved objects can hold narrative memories and carry those memories into the present and future. In so doing, the objects—which this study defines as memory bridges—allow access to our memories and connections to other memories that contribute to our ongoing autobiography. These narrative memories provide us with a vivid presence of the past while affirming the wisdom of the life path we have followed. These conclusions were drawn from an analysis of 61 stories shared by adults who have kept a meaningful item for at least five years.
