The article discusses the complexity of religion in the novel "Windward Heights" by Caribbean author Maryse Condé. Topics include the dichotomy between Vodou and Christianity due to Christianity's usage in the Caribbean as an accomplice to slavery, the formation of the Vodou religion based on rebellion against Christianity, and novel's main character, Razyé, as a reflection for Vodou's hatred of Christianity.
