- Abstract
This article focuses on the use of visual materials in the teaching of science in the Cleveland Course of Study in Elementary Science for Kindergarten and grades one to six in Cleveland, Ohio. Science teachers are faced with the problem of deciding what visual materials to use in connection with their teaching. The objective of the course "The Cow" is to learn some interesting facts about the life of the cow. The Cleveland Educational Museum supplies many visual materials upon request such as lantern slides, mounted pictures and exhibits. The objectives of the course "The Clothes Moth" are to know the life history of the clothes moth and how to exterminate them. The course involves a brief discussion of the damage done by moths in homes. The Cleveland Educational Museum supplies various visual materials such as mounted pictures, mounted specimens, lantern slides and films.
