- Abstract
This article provides a comparison of the military structures and characteristics of the Han Dynasty in China and the Roman Republic. Both empires faced internal conflicts and external threats, leading to the development of strong government and military institutions. The Roman Republic adopted elements from Greek systems of government and focused on expansion, while the Han Dynasty inherited the bureaucratic-military system of the Qin Dynasty and focused on territorial control. Both empires had resilient systems that allowed them to withstand military disasters. The text also discusses the military leadership, recruitment practices, training methods, and challenges faced by both empires. It emphasizes the importance of effective government institutions and collective defense.
