- Abstract
Examination of acP, alkP, ATP-ase, TPP-ase, AChE and ChE activities was carried out by histochemical methods on a 4-year-old child with SSPE. In the reactive glia in the white matter a marked increase in TPP-ase activity was observed, and a slighter increase in ATP-ase and acid phosphatase activities. No correlation was noted between the enzymic hyperactivity of the oligodendroglia and the myelin sheath breakdown process. The results show that evaluation of the hyperplastic glia processes should include changes revealed by histoenzymatic examinations.
