Outbreak of Swine-Origin Influenza A (H1N1) Virus Infection -- Mexico, March-April 2009.
- Abstract
The article reports on the outbreak of respiratory illness in patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) which started in Veracruz and Oaxaca, Mexico in March, 2009. As stated, the General Directorate of Epidemiology (DGE) has released a national epidemiological alert for all units monitoring the illness. It is noted that the DGE surveillance identified 97 swine-origin influenza virus (S-OIV) patients on April 29, 2009. Also noted are preventive measures like informing airport passengers of the disease, distributing masks and hand sanitizers.
