- Abstract
Biodiesel is a renewable biofuel that can be obtained through the transesterification process. Like other industrial activities, the biodiesel production process presents risks and dangers to human health and the environment, since its production involves toxic substances, such as sodium and/or potassium hydroxide, and alcoholic and flammable substances such as methanol, which when subjected to high temperatures can cause the risk of explosions and consequently cause burns to employees in the event of an unwanted event. The objective of this work is to carry out the simulation of the biodiesel transesterification process through the DWSIM software, to analyze its components and to set up a Risk Management Program (PGR) containing a risk inventory and action plan, aiming at the prevention and minimization of risks of this process.
