- Abstract
Based on analysis of geochemical characteristics of two sets of Carboniferous source rocks, and combined with the composition of natural gas and the carbon isotopic composition distribution of n-alkanes in condensate oil, the source of Carboniferous natural gas in Kalameili area of Junggar Basin is discussed. Carboniferous natural gases in Kelameili area are mainly wet gas. Among them, natural gas in Kalameili Gas Field is highly mature humic gas, and natural gas in Wucaiwan Gas Field is mature to highly mature humic gas. Based on evaluation of hydrocarbon generation potential of source rock and thermal simulation experiment, source rocks of the lower Songkaersu Formation and the Dishuiquan Formation in the study area are mainly type III kerogen, with a small amount of type II kerogen, and its maturity reaches mature to high mature stage with good potential of gas generation. At 600 ℃, the total gas production rate of source rocks is greater than 150 kg/tTOC. During the stage of high pyrolysis temperature(from 440 ℃ to 560 ℃), the carbon isotope values of natural gas generat⁃ ed by two sets of Carboniferous source rocks are consistent with natural gas in Kelameili area. And the carbon isotopic composition distribution of n-alkanes shows that the condensate oil associated with the Carboniferous gas reservoirs in Kelameili area is mainly from source rocks of the lower Songkaersu Formation and the Dishuiquan Formation.
