- Abstract
the article presents information on the wholesale dry goods business in the United States. A discussion is presented about the history of dry good wholesaling since the Revolutionary War and the changes in the American economy that created the need for wholesalers to oversee dry good imports. Details related to the evolution of trade and the logistical aspects of dry goods distribution are presented. The author points out major activities for which a distributor is responsible, including modernization of facilities, promotion, promotional selling, and development of comprehensive retailer services.
