- Abstract
This article evaluates the specialization and concentration of activities and analyzes changes in the distribution of economic sectors and productive structures in the three states of southern Brazil from 2010 to 2015 from the formal employment standpoint. Specialization is evaluated based on the locational quotient. Concentration is determined by the location coefficient. Changes in the distribution of sectors in time are assessed from the redistribution coefficient. Changes in the productive structure are assessed from the restructuring coefficient. Data was obtained from the annual social information report (Relação Anual de Informações Sociais- RAIS). The results show that the state of Paraná excelled in agriculture specialization, Rio Grande do Sul in public administration and industrial services, and Santa Catarina in mining and manufacturing. The coefficient of localization indicates no concentration pattern in any activity. The redistribution coefficient indicates no changes in the geographical distribution of activities from 2010 to 2015. The restructuring coefficient showed that none of the three states underwent structural production changes from 2010 to 2015.
