- Abstract
Von kossa or Alizarin stain may show calcification of these deposits.5 The pathogenesis of iatrogenic calcinosis cutis is still not fully known. Histopathology shows basophilic nuclear debris and eosinophilic elastic fibers being eliminated through a thickened epidermis.5 Patients of pseudoxanthoma elasticum may also present with yellowish papules, usually over flexural skin, that coalesce to form large leathery plaques. Iatrogenic calcinosis cutis most often follows administration of intravenous calcium gluconate or calcium chloride usually after an interval of approximately two weeks.
