- Abstract
This study brings forward some reflection on how the complex educational design (FREIRE, 2013), grounded on the principles of complexity (MORIN, 2015), can support the development of activities, classes, and courses that may contribute to promoting transdisciplinary (FAZENDA, 2006, 2017; NICOLESCU, 2007) language learning and teaching experiences. Such reflection was undertaken in a minicourse, about which participants shared their view regarding possible contributions of such design to teaching practice. Minicourse participants were able to learn about the main principles of complexity and the complex educational design, identify them in examples of activities undertaken with students, as well as suggest changes, adaptations, or extensions of one activity understood as traditional in order to try to make it more significant to students' reality. Their perceptions were interpreted under the complex hermeneutic-phenomenological approach (FREIRE, 2017). The interpretation findings, as well as their connections to the principles of complexity and the complex educational design, are presented herein.
