- Abstract
The article explores the commercial theater productions of playwright-producer Federico García Lorca by examining the ending and aftermath of his play "El público." According to the author, the play "El público" depicts a revolutionary assault on contemporary audience tastes and expectations. It exposes the double agenda of Lorca's theater, the subversive aspect and the expectation of audience. It reveals the aspirations of Lorca for his theater that is to make his plays nearly equivalent to a dramatic project. It also notes the failure of Lorca to exert authority in the play and the lack of discipline over the actors. The effort of Lorca to gain authority among the directors not only to the actors is also mentioned in the article.
