- Abstract
The article discusses the history of courses in legal history offered in U.S. law schools. It examines the founding of private law schools in early American history such as Litchfield Law School, the development of law school curriculum based on texts such as Blackstone's "Commentaries," and a report issued by former U.S. Commission of Education William T. Harris in 1891 concerning the lack of history courses in law schools. The article also discusses the curriculum revision by the Columbia University Law School.
