- Abstract
The article discusses the laws that regulates Russia from responding to piracy threat. It says that counter-terrorism and counter-piracy powers of Russia's governmental agencies are shaped by national and international laws which include Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation, Criminal Code, and Law on Defense. Moreover, the aftermath of the separation of Russian Navy and Soviet Union also contributed to the country's lack of response to piracy.
