- Abstract
The article discusses the role of Directorate of Special Operations (DSO) as the ultimate crime fighters in South Africa. It investigates on the accusations faced by DSO regarding the issue on dismissing accusers having ulterior motives. Furthermore, it provides recommendation that could improve the situation without interfering with the ability of the DSO to do its job such as the removal of the National Director by the President should only be possible after confirmation by the Supreme Court of Appeal and the alleged misconduct fall under the mandate of the Independent Complaints Directorate.
