The article discusses genetically modified food and its potential impacts on the U.S. food industry and farming in America as of 2014, focusing on safety and sustainability concerns regarding genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the reported scientific uncertainty about GMOs are mentioned, along with crop yields and the Monsanto food company. The "Golden Rice" genetically modified product which is designed to combat worldwide hunger is examined.
