- Abstract
The article demonstrates the deposition of deuterated palmitic acid from a range of topical skincare formulations into the stratum corneum of human skin in vivo and its conversion into elongated free fatty acids (FFA) and ceramides. The study analyzed lipid composition and the presence of deuterated sphingosine in FFA-containing body wash, leave-on lotion and a syndet bar formulation using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.
