- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 54-year old man with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) who died after 38 days in the intensive care unit. He was diagnosed to have severe kidney injury, pancreatitis, and a hemorrhagic gastric erosion that made his prognosis worse, which had a possible relation with his hypercalcimia. According to the authors, common clinical findings in patients with hypercalcemia and MODS are SIRS with severe kidney and liver injuries.
