- Abstract
A new wavelength conversion method using an SOA-loop-mirror for NRZ optical data has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. A conventional wavelength converter with a nonlinear fiber-loop-mirror can perform RZ-to-RZ, NRZ-to-RZ, or RZ-to-NRZ data format conversion, while NRZ-to-NRZ conversion has not been demonstrated up to now. We successfully experiment optical wavelength conversion of 1300 nm NRZ data into 1550 nm NRZ data at 1.5 Gbit/s using a fiber-loop-mirror with a 1300 nm-SOA. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
