- Abstract
This article focuses on microsatellite polymorphism. Discovery of microsatellite polymorphism has extensively changed mouse genetics. Information on more than 9,000 microsatellite loci has now been available through databases such as MIT/Whitehead Institute (MIT/WH) database. Among the information, inter-strain polymorphisms are of particular importance to functional genomics through the generation of high-dense linkage maps for positional cloning and QTL analysis. The MIT/WH database presents polymorphisms among 12 inbred strains including two wild-derived inbred strains.
