- Abstract
A new mode of abnormal hydrodynamic wedge-platform thrust slider bearing is proposed. In this bearing, the lubricating film thickness in the inlet zone is lower than that in the outlet zone. For generating the load-carrying capacity of the bearing, the boundary slippage is artificially designed on the whole stationary surface, but the contact-fluid interfacial shear strength on the stationary surface in the inlet zone is smaller than that on the stationary surface in the outlet zone. An analysis is derived for the carried load and friction coefficient of this bearing. The calculation results show that this bearing has a considerable load-carrying capacity and low friction coefficients on the scales of10-3 or 10-4. The bearing is thus energy-saving and can be applied under specific operating conditions.
