- Abstract
The author discusses the relationship between mental disorder, gun violence and public safety. He mentions that according to an epidemiological research data, mental disorders including schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder are associated with an increased risk of violence. He comments on the implications of the data on mental health professionals and advocates for improved mental health services to approve proposals for increased mental health funding to treat mental illness.
