- Abstract
The article presents a study which explores the first two clinical cases of occupational asthma (OA) caused by sculptured nails containing methacrylates (MAs). OA was diagnosed in both cases on the basis of the patient's history of occupational exposure and respiratory symptoms and on the results of a work simulation test. A dual asthmatic reaction was observed in the bronchial provocation test conducted on the patients. Results of the study show that sculptured nails containing MAs can induce OA in nail technicians.
