- Abstract
A letter is presented from Maria Beatrice Valli, Marina Selleri, Silvia Meschi, Paola Zaccaro, Donatella Vincenti, Eleanora Lalle, Maria Rosaria Capobianchi and Stefano Menzo to the editor about the phylogenetic analysis of hemagglutinin (HA) 222 variants in pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus in Italy. 222E was the dominant variant based on the study. It included 2,492 complete HA sequences from the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data database. They explain the reason behind the higher genetic barrier of the 222N variant to change.
