Human trafficking violates human rights and dignity. The suffering experienced by victims of human trafficking should be demonstrated to raise awareness on this issue. Accordingly, this study aims to explore the suffering experienced by victims of human trafficking in Malaysia. A qualitative approach of multiple case studies was used to understand this situation. A total of 18 victims of human trafficking at a shelter were interviewed in groups (focus group discussion). Data were analysed using a thematic analysis approach. The study found that victims of trafficking experienced physical, mental and spiritual suffering, especially during the period of trafficking. Accordingly, special action plans need to be implemented to raise public awareness and eradicate the crime of human trafficking. This study has implications for welfare, enforcement, criminal, rehabilitation, and spiritual organizations and agencies synergy to help victims of human trafficking.
