- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated long-term cause-specific mortality among 5-year survivors of childhood cancer in a large-scale population-based cohort in Great Britain. Data from the British Childhood Cancer Survivor Study, which involved childhood cancer survivors between 1940 and 1991, were analyzed by the authors. It was observed that there were 3,049 deaths overall and that excess mortality from second primary cancers and circulatory diseases continued to occur beyond 25 years from diagnosis.
