- Abstract
This article discusses a case of acute hair matting (AHM) in a 10-year-old girl who experienced a scalp rupture due to a car accident. The girl had no significant medical history and had undergone primary repair of the rupture. Three weeks later, the hair in the affected area appeared matted and twisted. The diagnosis of AHM was made, and the patient was recommended to have a haircut and use a specific shampoo. The article also explores the possible causes and risk factors for AHM, including poor hair care and certain medications. Treatment options for AHM are discussed, including cutting the matted hair and using insecticides or oral antibiotics if necessary. Prevention strategies for hair matting are also mentioned, such as using mild cleansers and conditioners and avoiding excessive rubbing of the hair.
