Percent of depressed patients who show inadequate response to antidepressant therapy; Increase in the risk of chronicity and recurrence if recovery from major depressive disorder is not completed; Need for return to baseline psychosocial function; Benefits of augmenting treatment with lithium, tri-iodothyronine or atypical antipsychotics.
