- Abstract
The article discusses the results of a study on the influence of dispersion of organically modified clay (DK4) on the flammability of polystyrene (PS) with intumescent flame retardant, poly(4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane spirocyclic pentaerythritol bisphosphonate) (PDSPB). The study revealed that the improved thermal stability and combustion behavior of PS/PDSPB/DK4 nanocomposites can be attributed to DK4 dispersion. The synergism between DK4 and PDSPB in PS is also explained.
