- Abstract
This article focuses over the multifunctional and multifaceted uses of the maguey pulquero in three comunities, one indigenous and two mestizo, from Hidalgo and Tlaxcala, México. For the corresponding analysis, we defined: entire maguey, castrated maguey, leapt maguey, first order uses, second order uses and third order uses. The diversity of benefits are grouped into seven categories: nutritional, domestic, textile, health and beauty, construction, agricultural, and fodder and animal dietary supplement. Registered uses are determined under these elements. Utilization that mestizos and indigenous inhabitants make of the maguey pulquero is oriented to the satisfaction of basic needs.
