- Abstract
We report the case of a 20-year-old male from Acapulco, Guerrero, student, that lived in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, with a one-month history of a localized dermatosis to the right hand, characterized by an erythematous plaque with active border, moderately desquamation, moderate pruritus and without previous treatment. Presumptive diagnosis of hand tinea was made. Treatment with terbinafine 250mg/day for 30 days was established with complete remission of the lesions. Patient had direct, frequent contact and care of a domesticated rat (Rattus norvegicus) for the last two months. Mycologic culture from patient and the rat reported Fusarium sp. Simultaneously to the dermatosis the rat had an acute pulmonary disease with dyspnea and nose bleeding; dying after a few days, without necropsy. Patient had no pulmonary symptoms.
